The Friday that Never Was. Empty The Friday that Never Was.

Fridays. The one day of the week where student’s feelings and teacher’s merge into the same thoughts. “I can’t wait to get out of here” or “Hey man, what are you doing this weekend?” Mine was different. I was slightly tired from thinking too hard about too much, and had no concern of my weekend. To be honest, I always miss those two lonesome, school days, even if I am with a friend. Normally I would go home and eat, whether it is a snack or early supper, it does not matter. Once I did that, I would usually start on any homework I had or simply write the night away. Not this time.

Very sleepy. My eyelids were getting so heavy, and I only got to my early supper, my laptop sat on my bed calling my name, it’s so used to being used at this time. It question why it hadn’t been. I was lying on my bed, staring up at the ceiling, trying to keep my eyes open. A story began floating around in my head, I needed to write it down or it may be lost forever. I told my mother that if I was unresponsive in the next hour to promptly wake me, I thought it would be best to keep my story in my head. Or so I thought.

Cut to black. I fell asleep just after my mom tried to wake me. She decided to let me sleep because she knew I was tired. Sometimes she should go with her first gut feeling to wake me. Oh well. After what seemed like years, I awoke. My first feeling was panic. How long had I been asleep, I had fallen asleep around 8, so hopefully not long. I glanced over at my clock, it read 9:20. A sigh of relief and a wide smile cracked on my face. I looked around my room, thankful I had not lost my Friday writing day. A sudden horrific realisation came to me. The room was lighter than when I had fallen asleep. “I didn’t just…” I said aloud and trailed off to myself. It was not PM at all; it was 9 in the morning. Friday was gone, and it was actually Saturday. Friday stood laughing and mocking me for sleeping it away. It was the Friday that never truly was.
